Are you a highly technical, patient-focused Respiratory Scientist ready to take on a senior leadership role? Evolve Staffing Ltd. is delighted to invite applications for the position of Band 7 Clinical Respiratory Physiologist based at a modern NHS Hospital respiratory department in Stevenage.

As a Senior Physiologist, you will lead the delivery of advanced lung function testing and sleep diagnostics. You will oversee clinical testing procedures, ensure quality assurance across specialized equipment, interpret complex physiological data, and directly influence the treatment pathways for patients suffering from chronic respiratory conditions, sleep apnoea, and complex neuromuscular diseases.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform and interpret advanced respiratory function tests, including full Pulmonary Function Tests (PFTs), spirometry, gas transfer, lung volumes (plethysmography), bronchial challenge testing, and cardiopulmonary exercise testing (CPET).

  • Manage, score, and report on overnight sleep diagnostics, including full polysomnography (PSG) and respiratory polygraphy; lead CPAP/NIV setup and compliance clinics.

  • Provide clinical and managerial leadership to Band 5 and Band 6 Respiratory Physiologists, associates, and trainees within the respiratory laboratory.

  • Maintain rigorous quality control and calibration protocols for all laboratory equipment in compliance with ARTP and UKAS standards.

  • Collaborate closely with Consultant Respiratory Physicians to review complex clinical cases and optimize clinical workflows.

Requirements & Qualifications:

  • Professional Registration: Registration with the Registration Council for Clinical Physiologists (RCCP) or the Academy for Healthcare Science (AHCS) is mandatory.

  • Professional Certification: ARTP Practitioner Certification (Association for Respiratory Technology & Physiology) or equivalent.

  • Experience: Significant post-qualification experience in a comprehensive respiratory and sleep physiology laboratory, demonstrating previous experience handling complex caseloads at a senior level.

  • Education: BSc (Hons) in Clinical Physiology (Respiratory/Sleep) or equivalent healthcare science discipline.
